A local institution had been sold. Ukrop's Groceries, known for beautiful, alcohol-free stores, good service, and high prices was bought by a Dutch company. Some, because they didn't like the stores and/or the Ukrop family, called them "Ukraps." The name of the Dutch company that bought them? Royal Ahold.
