My response to a Multiply Contact. Thought I'd pass along the tips.

It could be many things. I assume she has anti-virus??? Make sure that's always up-to-date. BUT ONLY ONE ANTI-VIRUS ON YOUR PC. Does she defrag on a regular basis? Monthly or weekly. I hope I don't overwhelm you with ideas but: 1. I recommend Google Chrome for her browser. 2. Do a manual scan with her anti-virus IMMEDIATELY. 3. Get a few free, safe programs and learn how to use them: A. Malwarebytes. B. C Cleaner. C. Defraggler. NOTE: If you can afford it, get the paid versions or make a donation. NOTE: It's okay to have more than one anti-spam or anti-malware program on your PC, but only have one anti-virus. More than one can foul up operations. AVIRA has a good free anti-virus but just have one anti-virus. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR PROGRAMS UPDATED AND INSTALL UPDATES IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE HACKERS CAN FIND WEAKNESSES BY ANALYZING THE UPDATES. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Here's what I do weekly: (Some would say that's too often for some of the operations but it can't hurt.) 1. Check for Windows Update. But you should have Automatic Updating checked. 2. Check hard drives for errors. 3. Run Disk Cleanup Wizard. 4. Defragment all hard drives 5. Manually scan for viruses 6. Back up your hard drives. I recommend you get Mozy or Carbonite so you'll have on-line back-up. Then if you lose your PC or it crashes, you still have all your info available. 7. Check for latest drivers for your PC. 8. Check Device Manager for hardware problems. 9. Run C Cleaner +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I recommend you learn as much as you can about your PC with the time you have. A tech may charge you hundreds for something that's very simple to fix. Some "pros" don't mind gouging their customers. I have had a $125, 5-year-old PC for over a year and not had one problem. Of course, be careful about security. We're just seeing the beginning of cyber-crime. Cnet and Kim Komando.com have many useful tips.

Dark Side of the Rainbow???

Have you ever heard that if you sync up Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and the movie "The Wizard of Oz," they complement each other? I never play much attention to "marvels" like that but I was surfing and ran across a site that had them matched. I watched about five minutes and saw a split-second of film that MIGHT seem to match the album. This is a perfect example of apophenia, seeking patterns in the random and ignoring all the instances where the music and the film seem to have no relation at all.

I'm guessing most people who see the connection are very high on something or just very suggestible.

Look at those gorgeous covers reflecting man's beautiful diversity. Bach's music and those photos make me feel ashamed my tax dollars are sometimes used to kill and maim people.

Two things on my "must buy as soon as I get bills caught up list":

1. The extended version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" film trilogy.

2. Gardiner's SDG set of the Bach cantatas.

I only have a tiny complaint: This clips are usually slower bits and I prefer the lively choral sections. But these are beautifully done. Gardiner clearly loves and respect's Bach's genius.

There may be 5 hours of music here!

Nordic Ware Microwave Corn Popper

I bought one of these for two or three reasons. A bag of raw popping corn is much cheaper and more healthful than those greasy, salty microwave bags. This pops with NO OIL at all. One warning: It gets hot so be careful when removing it from the microwave. Plus the bottom of the popper stays hot for a half-hour or so. If you use it as a bowl, don't place it in your lap.

It's plastic so don't overcook the kernels.

"Carnivale"

Amazon sent my new set of Season Two discs so Iast night I saw the episode I couldn't watch because #6 was damaged. It's been a while since I watched Season One so I thought I would start it tonight. Slow... but sensational. I love the final scene of Episode One. I have seen this entire series at least three times and I'm still amazed by some of it. HBO was supposed to give them six seasons but they lost viewers and the show was expensive. That's easy to believe. Each installment looks like a feature film. Most of the acting is superb. Like "Let The Right One" in, this is wholly un-glamorous but beautiful.

Reason triumphs over emotion...

Thank Buddha for our wonderful legal system that requires the prosecution to PROVE guilt and doesn't require a defense to prove innocence. As odd and pathological as Casey Anthony seemed to be, the prosecution did not PROVE she killed her daughter. The number of people who wanted to convict her just because she's loathsome was a little disturbing. (The prosecution had to admit it didn't really know how the little girl died!)

I don't know if she killed the girl or not. I do know the state didn't seem to prove she did.

I have to agree with Jenny Eclair: Who were the bastards who let her on stage? Who left her on stage???

I just hope she doesn't have stage parents who pushed her into her career. Perhaps she once truly loved to sing but pushy relatives and the "star-factory" warped her?

The saddest fact is that most addicts have to hit bottom before they get straight. Let's hope this embarrassed her handlers and they insist she really "dry out" this time.

Maybe this bothers me so much because I don't have a daughter to worry about.

I have never heard her music but I hope she finds happiness before she becomes just another show-biz tragedy.
