I'll be damned!

I just realized something. One of my Contacts dropped me because of my political views. I think that's a first.

Apparently she's going into "social work." I'm sure there are lots of people with "good intentions" in that field but I noted on her Site that "the best social program is a private sector job." I refuse to apologize for such beliefs. Nothing teaches you more about the real world than work in the real world. People who are in the middle of our insanely wasteful governments who think they have much understanding of the real world are sadly deluded. Many of them go from the unreal world of the campus to the even more unreal world of government.

It's interesting MOST OF THE PLANET is fleeing wasteful socialism but the States are hurtling to it.

Baffling...

Will emissaries from Russia some day have to teach us the virtues of free enterprise?

Here's a sincere question the socialists need to consider: What are you going to do when there's no one left to tax? What will happen if the motivators, producers, leaders, and creators just give up?

Think about it.

If you want to hear a passionate defense of free markets and small governments, ask any refugee from a socialist state. Most of them think Americans are demented for experimenting with the worst aspects of socialism.

A system that punishes productivity with high taxes and rewards failure with subsidies will always eventually collapse. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out. SOMEONE HAS TO DO THE THINKING. SOMEONE HAS TO DO THE WORK.

What happens if all the truly productive and creative people leave?

Think about it.

I just don't understand people who think good intentions are enough and who think you're mean or selfish if you point out the fact their ideas don't work in the real world. I group those folks with those who can't see that voting for a person because of his skin color is just as racist as voting against a person because of his color.

When I was younger one of the most cynical ideas I heard was politicians want our schools to be lousy. The more I live, the more I see the real possibility that may be true for some. If our schools produced people who thought clearly and had practical intelligence, how many of our current government leaders would have jobs?

The people who benefit the most from government programs are the people who run them.

I am a great believer in helping others help themselves. This should be done through family and friends first; private charities second; and local or state government last. I'm not sure there should be ANY social programs on the national level. There are too many redundancies at that point.

There is no reason money spent to help others can't be spent wisely and efficiently.

But... I'm thinking of moving. It appears the voters respond to emotion and cliches. Maybe it's better in Canada or Ireland. At least their corporate taxes are lower.
